Why have you changed license from GPLv2 to GPLv3? And why did not notify the users?

I know that the previous versions of Telerik MVC Extensions were released under GPLv2. Bow they're released under GPLv3. Could you please clarify why you did it?

Also it would be better if you could notify your users about changed license terms and maybe add these information to your release notes =(((

Hello Andrei,

Indeed we modified the licensing for the Telerik MVC Extensions, but actually we switched to a higher and more up-to-date version of the GPL licensing, i.e. v3. This should not affect your projects, because since the core licensing remains the same, you can continue to use our components in GPL-compatible projects as before. Is there a particular issue you face with the GPLv3 license, compared to GPLv2?

Thank you for your comments about notifying the users for changes in the licensing. We would have done that in case we changed substantially the licensing terms, which is not the case. It makes sense to reflect those changes in the release notes, hence we will have that in mind for the future versions.

Check out the successor of Telerik MVC Extensions - Kendo UI for ASP.NET MVC - and deem it for new ASP.NET MVC development.

Are you sure?

Actually it affects other projects because GPLv3 is not compatible with GPLv2 - http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#v2v3Compatibility

It would be better if you changed a license to "GPL version 2 or later”. Now we also MUST change our license because of you. Until that we have to use the latest version of Telerik extensions which were released under GPLv2 (we cannot you use latest version)
