I would love to see a Document Browser tool and a Video Browser tool added to the Editor similar to the Image Browser.
Ideally, the Video Browser would also allow you to embed YouTube and Vimeo videos.
Is that in the plans?

For the time being, we do not plan to extend the capabilities of the ImageBrowser with regard to non-image file types. Of course, this also depends on customer demand, so you can create feature requests and vote at:

Currently you can use a custom tool to achieve the desired behavior.

Actually, to be more precise, the ImageBrowser can work with any file type. It is the Editor, that is restricted to handle images only. You can modify the Editor source code to change this.
