What's coming in Kendo UI next year (or, gimme the roadmaps!)

Thursday, December 15, 2011 by Kendo UI Team Blog | Go comment!

November's Kendo UI release marked an important milestone for our product and resonated very well in the developer community, according to our humble opinion. We have got a lot of positive feedback from every social medium, as well as some constructive feedback which is already taken consciously into account and will help us deliver even better client development story for you. Big 'thank you' goes to all of you who embraced Kendo UI in his early Beta stages and after the formal launch, and trust in it to build end-to-end HTML5/JS/CSS3 desktop and mobile solutions, no matter whether professional or hobby ones. I am sure that you will create amazing experiences for your end users!

It is true that the bells and whistles which came a couple of weeks ago with the Kendo UI official release still reverberate in our ears, but my gut feeling says there are many among you who would like to have a peek at what's next on the Kendo UI pipeline. To whet your appetite, I will play the role of the herald that serves you these news, fresh and warm right out of the Kendo UI towers. Read on to see what the next major release of the framework, down for mid March 2012, will offer you.

Kendo UI Web

The focal points for the initial Kendo UI Web release in 2012 will be:

  • Editor and ListView widgets
  • Programming infrastructure that follows the MVVM design pattern
    and
  • A few substantial features for the existing grid and treeview UI widgets

See Kendo UI Web Roadmap >>

Kendo UI DataViz

Highlights in the Kendo UI DataViz release will be:

  • The introduction of linear and radial gauges (with all the needed features)
  • Theme Builder integration
  • New Area chart type
    and
  • A bunch of charting features, such as multiple value axes, plot bands, etc.

See Kendo UI DataViz Roadmap >>

Kendo UI Mobile

Marching towards the Kendo UI Mobile Beta release in the second half of January and the anticipated launch in March 2012, you will see:

  • Segmented control and dialogs added to the set of mobile widgets
  • Enhancements for the listview and scroller
    and
  • View layout structure that allows you to reuse elements across mobile views

See Kendo UI Mobile Roadmap >>

Finally, if you want to see a recap of everything in the V1 2011 release of Kendo UI and the roadmaps for the Web, DataViz and Mobile tastes, visit the common Roadmap page.

There is a lot more to see in Kendo UI throughout year 2012, and we will gradually disclose the details later next year. We believe we are heading the the right direction, and your feedback is essential for setting our plans and prioritize what's coming next.

Hence do not stay quiet and leave a comment here, raise your voice in the forums or submit your ideas/cast your votes in the public Kendo UI UserVoice portal - we are here, listening.
